Comprehensive School Counseling Services

Students can access school counseling services through an number of referral sources, such as self, parent, teacher, staff, or administrative referral. 

Appropriate counseling referral reasons:

 Students may be referred to the school counseling services if there are concerns or barriers to their success in any of the areas listed below:

  • Behavioral difficulties
  • Difficulty with emotional regulation
  • Social/emotional concerns
  • Peer/ interpersonal conflicts
  • Academic concerns
  • Attendance concerns
  • Changes in the family or difficulties within the home
  • Mental Health Needs

How to make a referral for counseling:

 Individuals interested in receiving or referring others to counseling can contact the school counselor at any time.  The counselors will discuss your concerns with you over the phone, by email or an in person meeting can be scheduled.

Additional school -based counseling services:

School counselors help children during their school day and provide brief counseling services for issues that might impact their school day. However, sometimes it is more appropriate for students to receive professional therapeutic support. For this reason, Wind Gap Middle School offers the following school based counseling services for students:

K/S CONSULTANTS 

K/S CONSULTANTS haVE been providing in-home Family Therapy, Individual Counseling, and School Consultation services to children and families in Bucks, Lehigh, NORTHAMPTON & Montgomery Counties since 2000. K/S split into two separate agencies in July 2007 when MST Services were added. K/S ALSO PROVIDES Truancy Prevention/Diversion SERVICES TO SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN ALL 4-COUNTIES serveD, INCLUDING ALTERNATIVE, CHARTER & CYBER SCHOOLS . K/S CONSULTANTS’ PRIORITY IS TO PROVIDE EVIDENCED BASED PRACTICES INCLUDING TRIPLE P (POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM), ART (AGGRESSION REPLACEMENT TRAINING) & TF-CBT (TRAUMA-FOCUSED-COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY). K/S also provides community-based services in speciality areas of Foster Care, HOUSING & HOMELESSNESS, AS WELL SCHOOL-BASED COUNSELING.

CBITS: Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools

CBITS is a skills-based, group intervention for middle and high school students who have been exposed to traumatic events and have symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). CBITS aims to reduce PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms, and improve social and academic functioning. CBITS includes students who have experienced or witnessed a range of traumatic events including community, family, or school violence, natural disasters, abuse, neglect, or traumatic separation from a loved one. Students learn skills in affect regulation, relaxation, challenging maladaptive thoughts and problem solving, and work on processing traumatic memories and grief. These skills are learned through experiential learning in individual and group sessions.
